Inside of the Base

Gregory sighed and finished his coffee as Dan got up. He gently moved Sook's bottom off his lap and went towards his room. He'd need to get dressed to train after all. He waved with a nervous smile at Rody and Mari on the way, making sure his front was semi turned away to avoid more questions about his scar. He came back out minutes later, dressed and hair combed. He whistled and Auro looked up from the hole in the couch he had made to fly to him. Gregory sigh when he saw what he had done. "Zhis is vhy ve can't have nice zhings, Auro..." he grumbled as he looked at the damage. He could always fix it, but it was still another thing to add to the stress already building in him.

Carter did come back, just as quietly as she'd left. She was still in the same slightly hunched-over pose as before, though she was panting lightly and looked ever so slightly more tired. She went and settled down in a chair, curling up on it and hugging her knees as she did so, staring thoughtfully into the void. She glanced at Rody for a moment, having not seen him last night. She then continued to stare off into a void of thought, eyes becoming distant and clouded.

When Mari saw everyone she hesitated for a second, but then continued into the kitchen. She smiled weakly at Dan's greeting but still gave him a wide berth. "G-good morning everyone.." Mari said as she started cooking scrambled eggs. She kept her back to everyone as she cooked.

Rody watched the cat as it walked out of the kitchen and back into the living room.
.. So much for having nothing to worry about. He thought. Though his allergy wasn't that bad, and he wouldn't have a great deal of trouble with it unless he'd get in direct contact with the cat, he realised that the animal's very presence in the living room would likely begin to affect him within a few days.

He sighed, knowing there was nothing he could do about it. He'd just have to put up with it -- just like back in Egypt, where there had been a cat as well. The company accepted animals in these buildings, and this was simply a risk he took by applying.

When Mari entered the kitchen as well, he greeted her briefly, noticing her hesitation. He assumed that it was because the whole bunch of mercs was still pretty new to eachother.
"Slept well?" He asked, trying to strike up a small conversation in an attempt to make her feel a bit more comfortable in the presence of all these people.

The Frenchman glared at Dan when he chuckled and nudged him with his elbow. Maybe Mari is calmer today? He massaged his injured jaw and pouted. That had been unexpected. Otherwise he could have dodged it easily. Also he was still half asleep! After that Rémi went to put on his clothes for the upcoming training and came back out again. He walked into the living room and sat down on the sofa. He didn't talk much as he still was in the bed in his thoughts. Why was the training this early? In the past his small jobs started later...

After that moment the front door opened, and a sniper stood at the doorway. He had an owl perched on his shoulder, and was dragging along a black suitcase. He didn't wear the classic sniper's hat. He looked around, then to the paper slip in his hand. "This is RED base, is it not?" He questioned.

Gregory pulled a suture kit from his pocket, quickly fixing the sofa when he saw the other sniper come in. He blinked and noticed the scars and owl first. "Oh, Guten Tag" he said in a friendly tone. "I did not expect new comers to still be arriving."

Auro had snuck away to the kitchen, watching Mari intently as she cooked. "Gimme" he croaked, just as greedy as ever.

Carter gave Rody and Marc each a long, searching look from her spot on the couch. She didn't move, nor did she say anything, but she simply watched the goings-on of everyone else in the base. It was actually kind of creepy, seeing as her dark blue eyes had an unintentionally piercing effect to them. She'd abandoned her hat, and her long legs were pulled up to her chest with her arms around them.

Mari hesitated in answering Rody, "G-good morning.." She replied keeping her back to him. "I guess- oh ello zhere.." Mari said as she saw Auro fly over and land on the counter next to the stove. She suppressed a giggle at Auro's demand. She finished cooking the eggs and turned to the main room and nervously called out "E-excuse me everyone, I-I cooked breakfast..." She stepped over to the side in front of Auro and watched everyone with one hand grasping the sheath of her katana.

Rémi was just sitting on the couch with his eyes closed. He just wanted to go to sleep. His stomach grumbled a little. Well maybe eat and then sleep. But he was also kinda excited to start the training.
Bazil jumped up into his lap and he started petting him. He opened his eyes to looked out the small window and noticed that the sun was already fully out. Finally! Now it would get warmer!

The Frenchman was about to rest his eyes again when he heard Mari say that she made breakfast. FOOD! The spy jumped up sending bazil flying. But as he was a cat he landet on his feet and just sat down on the floor as if nothing happened.

The sniper got up from the couch after Carter had entered. He was still mopy and as the room filled he felt more uncomfortable. It dawned on him that he'd constantly be around this many people for a long time now. He didn't feel like talking or saying good morning or anything. Heck, he felt like leaving again. Dan mumbled a ''Good Morning'' while passing some people on the way to his room.

Auro's abnormally blue eyes widened at the food before him. He began to immediately wolf it down in the best way a bird can.

Gregory took a last look at his work on the sofa. He smelled food and perked up as he started for the dining area, only to bump into Dan as he was getting up from it. "O-oh, es tut mir leid. I, uh... I didn't mean to, uh... So are you joining us for breakfast, Dan?" he asked, hoping it wasn't too obvious he wanted him to. He was the first friend he had made here and he felt like sticking by him.

"I already ate," said Carter quietly, her dark blue eyes still flitting from person to person. It was clear at this point that while she wasn't against anyone on the team, she still wasn't truly on anyone's side but her own. So far, she'd deduced that they all came from different kinds of bad pasts, some subjectively worse than others. Odd...

Marc looked around the room, sensing the tension that had happened before he had arrived. He gave a curt nod, and went to his listed room to unpack. He came back moments later, eyes sharp, face monotonous. His owl perched on his shoulder, eyeing the food greedily. Marc leaned back against a wall, and relaxed a bit. "What time does the next round start?" "Hoot." "Shuttup, Amber."

Mari watched the people in the living room and was about to say something when she heard a tinking noise behind her. She spun around to see Auro picking away at the eggs. "O-oh non.. uuh.." Mari flustered. She reached out to shoo Auro from the platter. "P-please go away..."

Rody was just getting himself some food in the kitchen when he heard Mari saying she made everyone some breakfast. As he walked back to the living room to take a look, he thought he heard a new voice in the room.
Looking in the direction it came from, he noticed the new sniper and the owl that sat perched atop his shoulder. It stood out to him that there were so many pets, though he didn't really mind.

"I don't know about the first round, but the training oughta be soon.." Rody replied, greeting the stranger with a nod. "Guess we should just finish breakfast, prepare and then go. Best be on time."

After Rémi was done with shoving the food into his mouth he made sure that he was ready for training. At exactly 8:00 am someone opened the front door. It was Miss Pauling who had came to take them to the traning ground. "Is everyone ready?", she waited for a bit and then turned around. "Then follow me, please." And off she was.
Rémi followed her and the others outside. It was still a little bit chill but actually pleasant.

''Nah.. Oi'm not hungry...'' The Aussie said and went into his room. There he laid down on his bed and sighed. What was he doing here? He wasn't a murderer... He was just some random guy in the need of some money. What made him so special? But before the Aussie could sink into his thoughts any further, he noticed footsteps outside and the front door opening. It was when he could understand what Ms. Pauling was saying that Dan noticed how thin the walls were. ''Trainin... Ugh...'' He rolled his eyes and got up, joining the others as they left.

Gregory's hopes were crushed, but the only thing that shown it was his eyebrows. "Oh...O-okay... I'll catch you la-" He was discouraged from even finishing his sentence as the sniper left for his room. He sighed, turning and going to eat.

Auro squeaked and flew to his master, whom let him perch on his head while he ate. Auro seemed heartbroken until Gregory offered him some from his own plate. "You love your scrambled eggs, don't you" he chuckled as Auro wolfed it down.

Gregory blinked as Ms. Pauling came in and perked up even more as she mentioned training. He finished his meal quickly before running out ahead of everyone, Auro squawking as he almost fell off his head.

Mari breathed a sigh of relief when Auro gave up so quickly. Just after that she heard Ms. Pauling calling everyone to the Training Ground. She turned to see everyone following her out the door. At first she was a bit disappointed that she would have to skip the breakfast she made, but after cleaning it all up, she followed everyone else.
